BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN! + other stuff
1. Rome Film Festival: mission semi-accomplished. Meaning: both movies were awesome, trying to catch Bruce was not accomplished. But, more in detail:
a) The People vs George Lucas is a blast! Okay, if you're not into Star Wars at all and you aren't interested in sociology/anthropology, then you probably would die of boredom, but it was a pretty interesting documentary and tbh, it was refreshing to hear a bunch of fans saying that the SW prequels suck. (Even if I still maintain that Phantom Menace was the best of the three, even if it was bad.) But it gives you interesting thoughts about business vs artistic integrity in general, about creator vs public issues in how you need to handle something successful and then well, if you're into SW and if you hate Jar Jar Binks it's fun as hell. And Christ, I never even knew that the Star Wars Christmas special existed, but seeing pieces of it on that movie positively made me laugh for the entire five minutes they talked about it.
b) Then, Italian organization: fail. So they said Bruce would come like Friday, and since I figure a lot of people wanted tickets (which were all sold out) they moved The Promise into a bigger hall WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING. Ew. Also there were a bunch of places free in the front because of that, but clearly since I had a gallery ticket they sent me on the gallery anyway even if I had bought the ticket three weeks ago and the price was the same, but whatever. Anyway so everyone is neatly lined outside this new hall so that he can pass and sign some shit with his way free and everyone is happy. Except that clearly the movie showing in the new hall ended later than they planned and they had to let everyone out. And what does some genius of the security do? MAKES HIM PASS WHILE PEOPLE ARE GOING OUT and blocking the way. Result: he ended up in a mob and idk how many people the security had to punch to let him through and he didn't sign anything. Bummer.
c) Apart from the clusterfuck in B, at least being in the gallery meant having nice places for the movie (because staying in the front with such a big screen = headache) and damn I need to buy that box set now. Because it was gorgeous. Technically and also from the Bruce fanatic POV, but that was a given. And it also had surprise!Patti Smith, which was a lovely bonus. Anyway he came out after it and sat with two journalists and Jon Landau (!!) and the director, and there my camera died for good. I can't even turn it on anymore without the lens hissing. But, I managed to take some crappy pictures and a video, which I guess isn't THAT bad. So, cut.
The question was something along the lines of 'what do you think today of the themes in Darkness On The Edge of Town', sorry but my memories are fuzzy-ish. Anyway, HE'S TALKING AND SAYING SHIT ABOUT DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN, you don't need to know the question.
And clearly since I was in the gallery I had to zoom, but since my camera's problem was that THE LENS WERE BROKEN well. Not that great.
(Also my dad didn't want to lean me his. I'll hold a grudge for a long time for that. :((( )
Anyway, from the left: Brus, the interpreter (which you can totes ignore), the director and Jon Landau.

And well. I SAW BRUCE. And I actually managed to be at like 5 mts from him so whatever. ♥
d) This is mostly for the lulz, but anyway. My dad is a cruel person. This morning he's like 'have you read that after the movie he went to have dinner with fifty fans?'. I check the online article. It said fifty 'notable' fans, which I guess means that it was either people who ran a website or the fan club or SOMETHING. And I'm like 'well, since when I'm a notable fan?' and he's like 'oh dear, you really suck.' And I'm like ';_______________; FOREVER.' Why did he even have to tell me? I could have used some dinner by then anyway, since I was starving..
2. Anyway, that was it for Bruce. Other important thing: SIGN-UPS FOR LOST HOHOHO ARE OPEN at
lostsquee!! Go go go sign up! I can't do it because I a) don't have time and b) I need to match people and I don't want to end up assigning myself someone because it could be partial but GO! It's just 1000 words and the more people sign the least headaches I'll get when I need to do the matches. Sounds good? Then do it! ;)
3. I still need to do my mini_nano amount for today. I'll do it after I'm done with this entry. Also because yesterday I did 1100 words when I should have done 400 so yay!
4. Whoever decided to turn on the heat in mid-November is a criminal, btw. It's freezing regardless of how many layers you wear. And it's colder inside than outside. /rant
5. For anyone who read in my previous SPN review one reason why Dean is Beatrix from Kill Bill, I did a follow-up. Castiel is featured in this one, too.

Feel free to question my sanity, but COME ON.
6. And since this post got way too long because of pictures, I'll cut it here and go writing. Or studying. Or something. Ff after yesterday, today was such a drag.

2) I can count on one hand the number of time i went to an event well organised... we'll need to do something about it too when we'll make the fusion between France and Italia :)
3) I'm sorry for your camera issues, that sucks :((( but at least you got your head full of memories... hey, you were in the same room than Bruce!!!!
4) That's cruel, but i kinda like your dad's sens of humor, lol!!
And finally, I'll never say this too much... DEAN IS SOOOOOO BEATRIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no subject
2) Yeah. Strangely the only organized event I took part into was the SPN convention. Which was held in Italy. I'll never not be surprised that it was well organized, considering where we are.
3) It was close to dying but this round it just broke. Ah well, I managed to use it wisely. And hell yes I was! Okay, well, I've been to some concerts of his but the same room isn't the same stadium. XDD
4) My dad's sense of humor also consists in saying, before he goes off somewhere for two days, 'if Obama calls tell him I'm calling him back sometime soon'. I think I should explain Misha to him at times. STILL THAT WAS CRUEL. *bawls*
DEAN IS BEATRIX INDEED. THEY EVEN DUG THEIR WAY OUT OF A GRAVE. THE BOTH OF THEM!!!

Although I will say I saw a different cut at the IMAX theater, and it actually worked much better than the first. They stopped trying to make it a love story. It just..worked better. Still not great though.
I think if they had concentrated more on the stories, then worried about the special effects they films would have been great. instead they spent all their time concentrating on the special effects, then using those and saying "Oh well let's stick this in here, so we can do this."
Plus all the time they spent on Jar_Jar alone. I am glad that technology was developed, but really? They could have used that working up script.

But yeah, in a nutshell they should have worried more about the story and less about the cgi. -nod- Also well. The lack of Han Solo was enough to automatically make them worse. ;)

Just had to say that. Nothing else really of merit to contribute to a conversation.

Btw, DO WANT. Very much. *fishes out Harrison Ford icon*

I haven't even seen the Kill Bill movies but that's still awesome. That's what the quote from your last graphic was from too? I meant to ask, but then I got distracted writing ficlets this weekend. It fit Dean so perfectly, especially in light of his confession in the last ep. Very cool.
no subject
Yes, that other graphic is from Kill Bill as well. And the second movie starts with Uma Thurman breaking out of a buried coffin. I have my reason for drawing parallels... ;) but yeah, Dean totally fits that. And those movies are so good really.

The People verus Star Wars sounds excellent :)

It was excellent! :D

*GAAAAASP* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lol I love Ewan McGregor enough so rabidly that it actually makes me enjoy the prequels more ;)
Sooooo glad you got to see Bruce! But hey, you are TOTES a notable fan! *shakes finger at the people in charge*
no subject
Hey, I did! And <3333 ;) I think I AM notable, he just doesn't know it. And the organization doesn't either. ;)

I agree that your dad is cruel, not nice to rub it in :( he could AT LEAST passed his camera
It's too bad you won't be in the Lost HO HO HO exchange, though I understand the problem of matching when you are one of the participants. you are such a fun person to write to ♥ and make wonderful gifts!
it's awesome you are exceeding mini-nano requirements *high fives*
no subject
My dad can really be cruel, right? If he had leaned me the camera at least I'd have half-forgiven him.... ://
Well, if the sign-ups end up being uneven I'll probably hop in anyway (or pinch hit if there's the need) and try to be fair while assigning myself something, but it'd really feel kind of weird doing that. Idk but thanks ♥ (also because damn, someone has left a prompt that is so good that if it doesn't end up filled I might do that anyway after it's over. XD)
Go me indeed! Maybe I'll actually FINISH what I write, too, but one thing at a time. ;)

THE BRUCE. That's so cool! :D :D :D
I just signed up -- I can't wait to do HoHoHo again. Last year was so much fun!

THE BRUCE IS INDEED VERY COOL. :DDDDD
And yay!! I can't wait to get the whole thing started, too. ;)
