Okay, this is the serious reaction post. Sadly I can't do team CTRL+ALT+CANC. :(

Team crazy is crazy

1. Poor Jack, this episode he wasn't guessing one thing right.

2. I swear that when I realized what Richard wanted to do I threw a fit. WHY IS EVERYONE WANTING TO SIDE WITH F!LOCKE, GODDAMMIT? *headdesk*

3. Poor Richard though. :(((

4. Frank is still the best thing about team Jacob/crazy and Sun still needs more lines.

Team the curse of the black rock meets Deadwood meets Supernatural meets whatever the hell, this show is just a huge crossover

5. Richard's backstory: I've read a ton of fics on the subject which were way better, but I thought it was pretty much okay. They could have done it better and they could have been less obvious, but in the end it did work, mostly because Nestor Carbonell CAN ACT. Also, the Spanish was hot. Richard generally was. Especially when in chains. And especially when utterly desperate, awwwww.

6. The priest and the guy who bought him were disgusting. All I have to say seriously.

7. Jesus, the CGI is SO BAD. And the statue went down BECAUSE THE BLACK ROCK JUMPED THROUGH IT?

I always said this show is crack disguised with angst. Come on. IT'S CRACK. I'm just glad I can manage not to take it seriously.

8. The second the man in black came out I was like SILAS! SILAS! which probably testifies that two seasons of Deadwood in one week were too much.

Still, since they didn't grace us with the mib's name, from now I'm calling him Silas on default until they tell me which it actually is.

9. Anyway, poor Richard. Seriously, did it take that long to free the poor guy?

10. So. When mib/Silas told Richard to go kill the devil/Jacob, he told Richard exactly the same stuff that the Japanese deceased temple guy told Sayid when he sent him to kill that same mib/f!Locke. In both times, Sayid and Richard talked to the other guy and they didn't kill him. I'm sure this has to mean something which is probably that both Jacob and Silas/MIB are dirty rotting liars, or that they share at least 90% of their DNA, but point is, idek. CONFUSING.

11. Though at least we have some answers. Well, not that I like that people arrive in the island because Jacob needs to prove to Silas/MIB that free will exists or crap like that, but at least hey, that's an answer. Also as someone on my FL said, would freeing MIB seriously start the apocalypse? Really? Whatever. *goes along with it just because* I mean, it's seven eps left, I'll just shrug and wait.

12. When Richard and Jacob first met (I had supposed Jacob would've been the one to free him from the ship when I saw the premiere so the fact that the MIB had done it threw me out for a loop lol) I could only think that it was a relationship that started rocky.

Sorry. I know he loves his wife and stuff but that's totally shipping material. That whole immortality business was kind of weird because I mean, 'I can't do this or that but SURE, I can make you immortal' was WTF but whatever again. I'm going along with it. Also because I still like Jacob better for some reason, even if the guy is as shady as a demi-god gets.

13. Can't they just freaking keep Titus Welliver? Not that I like the MIB, but I can stand him a looot more if he isn't in Locke's meatsuit. *sigh* F!Locke is still the worst crap the writers have ever thought.

Team LET'S DO SOME TALKING WITH GHOSTS, PEOPLE!

14. Richard, Hurley and the wife = AWWW. I teared up. It wasn't exactly the most original scene ever but it was well-acted and I liked it.

15. Hurley, never change. Please.

Team THIS SHOW IS A GODDAMN CROSSOVER (and it loves SPN)

16. If it turns out that Jacob is the devil and that the island keeps him in place from going all apocalypse, I'll throw a laughing fit so hard that they'll hear me in Antarctica. SERIOUSLY, MARK PELLEGRINO, CAN YOU BE THE DEVIL ANYWHERE YOU GO? As soon as Richard was like 'are you the devil?' I legit threw a fit. Hell, me and [livejournal.com profile] lasamy were just waiting for Silas/MIB to give Richard the Colt. Which wouldn't have worked, but whatever. Also Richard finding out that he served someone who said shit for ages = Castiel at the end of S4, y/n?

17. Jesus Christ the MIB is both Silas from Deadwood and War from SPN. LOL. I still can't wrap my head around the concept. At this point we'll find out that the island is either the final seal or the Gem saloon.

That'd probably be SCARY. *shudders*

Team brief speculation

18. So. Basically. If you want to kill either Jacob or the MIB you need to stab them and not talk to them first, and in the latter's case it doesn't even work. One of them is the devil, if you suppose that at least one of them isn't lying. One of them is obviously lying. People get to the island because Jacob wants to prove the MIB the point of free will and of people being able to change and the MIB is either proved right every time or kills them all as soon as they do thus rending the whole thing useless. The first Isabella was probably Smokey, but I wouldn't be so sure about the second, even if I'd like to know how could she talk to Hurley if she wasn't buried there or if she didn't die on the island. Richard says that they're all dead and that the island is Hell, which can't make sense because then they'd have died when the first plane crashed and how do dead people time travel and become the O6? Also from what Jacob said it sounded a lot more like purgatory rather than hell, which is what everyone was guessing by mid S2, and this whole shit in the end is more confusing than it was before. Then again Richard wasn't exactly in his right mind.

One day ^ that will make sense, I guess.

19. Last burning question: where the fuck is Vincent?

20. That said, I liked the episode a lot. Mostly because I'm not expecting anything to make sense by this point I guess, but in general I did like the last three eps so good for now. The premiere still is the first one, but then again, BOONE.

21. I probably had something more intelligent to say but I saw it before class and can't recall. :/ Ah well. Now let's hope that the good trend goes on next week too...

22. I forgot. NEEDS MORE FRANK.

i think the first isabella may have been smokey, but the second one, no, hey maybe it was even jacob, but i'm guessing it was isabella--that scene killed me.

i guessed it was purgatory from the middle of season 1--i love that movie by the way and rec it...anyway, I think we all guessed it and they were like "fuck, what can we make it now" and they've sort of lost sight of it.

i'm trying to figure out exactly who they are, if they can be killed they have to be partly human, which technically rules out the devil...but at the same time, with those writers, I wouldn't put it past them.

i brought this up in a second post...the in ability to have babies on that island, if they are going by doctrine the babies born don't have a soul--there is a split second when it doesn't, prime time for smokey to try to get in there..but why aaron was born--boone died when he was..maybe he was a distraction for smokey or he snuck into aaron before smokey could.

this show makes my head hurt.

but I will say, if they are the devil, makes my theory that sam is actually aaron's father much more plausible because I swear this is one big spn crossover. :)

I'm 99% sure that the first was Smokey. The second couldn't have been though since she said that Richard shouldn't have gone with him and well, Hurley was talking to her so she was obv. dead. Still. Good scene!

Purgatory was sort of the obvious answer and yeah, I think it's why they changed the cards and went along with all the craziness.

Well, in THEORY it does rule out the devil, but then again Jacob doesn't look too dead to me, at least unless someone else takes his place. So duh. Who knows. I figure that if they're doing all this fuss they COULD die, but.. duh.

Nice theory about the babies! Even if ouch, ARGH, DO NO HARM. ;_________; though people usually die before they even get to delivery, so... ideeeeek.

Word on heads hurting.

but I will say, if they are the devil, makes my theory that sam is actually aaron's father much more plausible because I swear this is one big spn crossover. :)

IT IS AND LOL I APPROVE OF THIS.

I'm only withstanding S6 because of the cast. Sure Richard is hot, but it helps that he can act too. If I only had ever seen this episode of Lost, I would have been so drawn to his journey by his performance and say, I want MOAR!

Last burning question: where the fuck is Vincent?

In a Richard story I never finished, I had his only island companion be a golden lab.

I feel that Silus is on the island because Al sent him there. He must be lonelywithout Johnny, Dan and Wu!

I forgot to put it in my review but did the seen with Silas and Richard and the key and the chains remind you of Randall Flagg and Lloyd at the jail in The Stand?

Aw, I loved The Stand. Except for the ending. But there was a similarity. Also with some scene from the Dark Tower series. Darlton reads too much King, that's for sure....

Except for the ending.

Yeah, but see, that's the problem. We're *at* the ending and that's the part they seem to be trying to emulate.

Also? I'm sort of basing this on the *movie*, not the book. I assume the book was better than that train wreck, but even then...the characters in Lost have always been some of the most dynamic, interesting characters on television. I'd hate to see them reduced to flat characatures in a battle between "good" and "evil".

Date: 2010-03-25 07:19 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com
Ah, wait, I meant the book. From the little I've seen the movie was crap, I can't fault you if you hated that. ;) The book is good though, I loved it back then.

And imo they aren't stealing from The Stand (for the ending), they're doing that from the Dark Tower PLUS some Stand because of the whole pawns for good and evil thing. Goes unsaid that I'm not fond of either thing. :/

Date: 2010-03-24 04:25 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com
did the seen with Silas and Richard and the key and the chains remind you of Randall Flagg and Lloyd at the jail in The Stand?

TOTALLY. And also of one scene in the Dark Tower, in the third book, which has basically the same concept behind it and had Flagg in the same position. Not to mention that Silas/whoever is the man in black. Mm. Just adds to my theory that this show is a total King ripoff. ;)

I feel that Silus is on the island because Al sent him there. He must be lonelywithout Johnny, Dan and Wu!

Hell yes. He probably misses their company and he just wants to go back to his series, except that it's canceled. Poor baby.

Word about the cast being the saving grace of the whole thing and of Nestor Carbonell being the saving grace of this particular ep. ;)

and in the latter's case it doesn't even work
Are you talking about when Sayid was sent to kill him? Because Flocke did say "Hello, Sayid," before Sayid was able to stab him. So it was the same thing. We still don't know if it wouldn't work if they were quiet. What I don't get is how Ben was able to stab him after having a whole chat with Jacob. Oh, whatever. This crack.

I was blown away by two things: Nestor can act and fuck the triangle because OT3 is EPIC! EPIC!!! Both Richard/MIB and Richard/Jacob were hot in different ways. One was bondage and the other was all wet and violent and sweet and alcoholic and immortal bffs (I think you can tell which ship I prefer).

I really had wanted Richard's episode to explain other things. It was a perfect opportunity. They should have shortened some of the Tenerife scenes and chain scenes to show us a little of the formation/purpose of the Others, Richard's initiation into the island's mysteries, the coming of the Dharma. This episode should have been two hours long and explained a lot more. Oh well.

I still like your backstory about Adam and Richard and Jacob way better. Even though it has now been formally jossed, it's still what happened in my head. Actually, I like most Richard/Jacob fic better than what we saw, but whatever. Richard is beautiful and sexy and it was all very well-acted.

Mark Pellegrino cracks me up. I want to be a fly on the wall in his house. I can just imagine him coming home to his wife and telling her about her day. "Today I wrapped up a scene in which I was Lucifer. Now I'm flying out to Hawaii. The script says I'm NOT Lucifer, but I'm not entirely sure yet if I'm lying or not, because this character is super shady, too. Guess I'll just play him as Lucifer and see what happens." It's sort of like David Anders, who, despite being a babyfaced-angel from Oregon, has been typecast as a British villain. Perfectly normal Mark Pellegrino is now your go-to shady immortal. Bizarre.

Date: 2010-03-24 04:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] janie-tangerine.livejournal.com
Yeah I was. And well, F!Locke did say hello but Sayid didn't exactly talk to him, so I guess it could be taken either way. But then again if Ben killed Jacob after all that chat... pfff. Whatever, I never expect this to make sense at all.

I was blown away by two things: Nestor can act and fuck the triangle because OT3 is EPIC! EPIC!!!

THIS!!!! I like Richard/Jacob better as I suspect you do, too, but MM THE POTENTIAL FOR OT3. *licks lips like crazy*

Word about what you said about it possibly explaining a lot of other things, but eh, I guess it'll be for the spinoff Richard will get after the series is over. Because he will, right? Right?

LOL, thanks! I have to say that I probably liked it better too even if slave!Richard is amazing fodder for h/c fic, lol. Darlton jossed me indeed though. :(( But in our heads it can go that other way, right? Right? And yeah, word about the rest of that paragraph.

IT'D BE SO AWESOME TO BE A FLY ON MARKSHA'S WALL!!! Do you imagine the crazy???

Today I wrapped up a scene in which I was Lucifer. Now I'm flying out to Hawaii. The script says I'm NOT Lucifer, but I'm not entirely sure yet if I'm lying or not, because this character is super shady, too. Guess I'll just play him as Lucifer and see what happens.

PFFFFF. And his wife probably is like 'whatever, sure thing, go ahead.' LOL. And yeah totally, Marksha is now our very own shady sort-of-evil immortal guy. AWESOME? XD

I vote they're both lying and not letting them talk before trying to kill them makes no difference whatsoever.

No, they're not dead. The Hell/Purgatory explanation makes no sense whatsoever and that's why TPTB threw it out five seasons ago and promised that *wasn't* the answer. Why they keep bringing it back up anyway is anyone's guess, but it's starting to annoy me.

That's the most sensible answer. -nodnodnod-

I think that Purgatory might have made sense if it was about everyone getting redemption on the island, but it stopped being that when Charlie died I think. I still think that it was the original idea and that then everyone was on it and they changed the direction. :/ Idek but they are bringing that up themselves, so who knows.

LMFAO, OMG I LEGIT THOUGHT MIB WAS PULLING OUT A REVOLVER WHEN HE UNWRAPPED THE KNIFE. I was very disappointed when it turned out not to to be a gun at all.

I don't even know what to say about this show anymore. I was getting back into making theories for a while there, but it's getting so close to the end now, and there's so much information that I'm just going to wait it out, I think. I'm confused on how should I call him!! Since SPN was the other show where I had seen him after he made his first appearance I should probably call him War, but after 24 eps of Deadwood in one week and half of which had him present I can't avoid calling him by his Deadwood name. IT'S FRUSTRATING!!!

, OMG I LEGIT THOUGHT MIB WAS PULLING OUT A REVOLVER WHEN HE UNWRAPPED THE KNIFE. I was very disappointed when it turned out not to to be a gun at all.

IT WAS CASTIEL'S KNIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD Srsly it was just calling for it.

My theory is that it's a Dark Tower ripoff and it's going to end like the Dark Tower series did. I've been saying it since S3 and the flashsideways sadly aren't at all in the way of said theory, so I guess I'll just write it down sometime before it ends, but apart from that? I have no fucking clue. And yeah, neither of the people trying to kill those two managed, even if Sayid hadn't exactly spoken to the MIB. Augh. CONFUSING.

the gang on the beach has seriously no clue what to do next. it's a bit pathetic.

I agree Nestor can act and managed to make this sort of weak backstory interesting (and HOT) to me. poor thing. he had it rough.

I think Hurley can speak to ghosts without being where they died (poor Miles, he is limited in his superpower that way though), since he spoke to Charlie and Eko back in the states. Could makes sense to speak to the real Isabella while on the Island. it was a really touching scene, that one, I nearly cried!

I think Vincent is currently making his way to Frank and they'll decide to take care of business and get out of that rock on a canoe.

I love love love how this is a big crossover. and i keep cooing at Marksha, which I suppose it's not the answer expected to a manipulative demi-god/Lucifer ;)
