Blame this on the fact that I couldn't bear the same Kant lesson twice in a week. And now I'll go thinking about that other crack fic.

Title: Ghosts Get Bored, Too
Rating: PG? There's mentioning of m/m sex, but really nothing else.
Characters/Pairing: Hurley, Boone, slight Boone/Shannon and Jack/Boone mentioning
Word counting: 770
Disclaimer: Not mine. This would have happened.
Spoilers: S4 Hurley flashforwards.
Summary: “Yeah, so this is like, the proof I’m still hallucinating. Dude, you talk like Charlie. I’m just making you up.”
A/N: using for [livejournal.com profile] un_love_you #7, prove it. Won second place for challenge #81, friends, at [livejournal.com profile] lostfichallenge. Might be set some time between The Beginning of the End and the finale, but I swear there isn't any angst. Cookie for whoever guesses the Dark Tower homage. Because I call it homage.

“Hi, Hurley.”

“…”

“Uhm, hi?”

“…”

“You know, I remember you quite more talkative.”

“…”

“Hey, I’m starting to feel neglected, here! You talk with Charlie, you talk with Eko, why not me?”

“Dude, you aren’t here.”

“Hate to prove you wrong, but I am.”

“You’re dead.”

“I’m also here.”

“Yeah, so this is like, the proof I’m still hallucinating. Dude, you talk like Charlie. I’m just making you up.”

“Yeah, but he is real and I’m not? That’s pretty unfair.”

“Then why are you talking like him?”

“Because he’s dead and I’m dead? And what now, you’re going all Patriot Act on me?”

“Dude, that’s it. You aren’t real. Just go away.”

“Why, because I already said it once at your presence? Geez, I wasn’t here to tell you to go back, you know?”

“You’ve just said it.”

“I wouldn’t have if you hadn’t made me say it. Come on, will you listen to me?”

“Prove it.”

“Prove what?”

“That I’m not hallucinating you.”

“How?”

“Tell me something about you I can’t possibly know.”

“Fine. I slept with Shannon.”

“Dude, she was your sister. Everyone has slept once with his sister.”

“I meant, we had sex.”

“Everyone knew that, dude.”

“Fuck, really?”

“Yeah, dude. Like… yeah. So?”

“I had a crush on Jack.”

“Everyone knew that, too.”

“What? God, and me hoping that I was subtle. Yeah, but I had sex with Jack, too.”

“…”

“So…?”

“No way, dude.”

“I can swear I had. I can also tell you the details. You could ask him too, but I guess he…”

“Okay, okay. Fine. I believe you. I couldn’t hallucinate you saying that you and Jack had sex. Just… no. Right, you’re here. So what?”

“Oh, finally. Well… how good are you at Trivial Pursuit?”

“What?”

“I’m serious.”

“You’re crazy, dude.”

“Not at all. How good are you at that?”

“I’m like… dude, I mean, yeah, I’m good at that and there’s some box here, but…”

“That's excellent. What about we play one game?”

“Why, you play board games?”

“Ghosts get bored, too.”

“But… can’t you play it... y’know, in the afterlife?”

“Are you crazy? I mean, I love them all and everything, but there’s no fucking way. Charlie is good only in the Entartainment category and half of the Arts one, Libby starts to get into shrink mode each time, Ana gets bored, my sister is a disaster and like hell I’m playing with Nikki and Paolo. Or with Arzt, that’s just no fun. Fuck, there are just two people who would be a good match, but no way.”

“Who? And why?”

“One is Mikhail, but like hell I’m playing any game with him. And then...there’s Tom. That other Other. But he keeps on hitting on me and it’s distracting. Right, maybe Jack’s dad wouldn’t be that bad, but he answers Johnny Cash to each question.”

“What? Why?”

“Says Johnny Cash is everything. Go figure out. Come on, man. I’m not asking much. Out of friendship. I’m really desperate.”

“Dude. You really just want to play Trivial Pursuit?”

“Haven’t I made that clear?”

“…”

“So?”

“Dude. God. I just… okay. Fine. You take the box, though.”

“Awesome! Hey, do you feel like adding the extra card set for... Trivial Pursuit Family Edition - Featuring the Magic of Disney?”

“Like hell, dude. Just let’s get started already.”

“Fine, I’ll go first.”

“.. Okay. Arts and Literature, huh? That’s the card... Oh, dude, that’s just made for you. What popular country and western singer had hits with Folsom Prison Blues, Walk the Line and Ring of Fire?

“… Johnny Cash.”

“Well, guess he’s really everything, dude.”

“Shut up, I scored anyway. I’m throwing the dice again.”

“Okay. History? So... What happened at the Greenwich Village on July 28th, 1969?”

“The Stonewall riots.”

“Dude. Right again. Still yours.”

One hour later

“Dude, do you realize I’ve only answered five questions?”

“Why, you want a rematch?”

Definitely, dude. Like... so definitely.”

Three hours later

“Dude. I give up. You’re too good at this.”

“You just need practice.”

“Like.. what, reading an encyclopedia?”

“Well, that’s one idea.”

“You aren’t serious, man.”

“I always am. Well, guess I gotta go. But it’s been fun.”

“Yeah. Yeah, guess it was.”

“Thanks for the game.”

“Oh, that was good.”

“Guess I’ll be going now.”

“Yeah. Good... good trip?”

“Thank you.”

“... hey, Boone?”

“Yes?”

“What about another rematch one of these days?”

“Anytime, man. I’ll be in touch.”

“Oh. Well, like, great. Bye, dude.”

“Bye. Oh, and by the way? Next time we’re so playing with the Star Wars Classic Trilogy Collector's additional set.”

“What? Hey... oh, crap. He’s gone. Well, guess that maybe with that one, I might win once.”

End.
