So, today I wake up, I go on a community where there was the default page (you know white background, blue stripes next to your userpic) and there was an idiotic new comment style box. Which: lacks subject line, has a method of choosing your userpics that is totally insane (WHERE IS THE DROP DOWN BOX?!), has a link feature that is totally not needed and lacks the spellcheck and preview option.

I try to post a comment. It doesn't work. I read that it doesn't work for custom comment pages yet, so I'm currently using the style?mine options and at least I can comment as usual. But this thing is seriously making me want to strangle whoever is in charge of this stuff at LJ. Because: taking out the preview option means that if you want to check a comment where it has html you can't and if you botch it, good luck to you editing it all over, the subject line being gone means that all communities/comment fic/kink memes are a mess (and if I ever write comment fic here it'll be an ever WORSE mess), also there's apparently crap about how they don't expand properly anymore but I haven't seen that yet. This entire thing fucks with how someone uses the service a LOT - not to mention that for me that new box doesn't work anyway, which means that the moment it's valid also for custom comment pages I won't be able to comment anywhere unless they fix it/whatever is wrong with it. Mostly, I'm just wanting to headdesk at the fact that LJ is AGAIN changing shit without feeling what the userbase has to say and after they make things wrong, apparently their PA answers 'well, WE like the new comment style so shut the hell up and keep it'. Basically, unless you post fic in your journal, you can't do anything else fandom-related because all comms and especially comment fic RELY on subject lines. Or the preview option. And mostly, the freaking drop-down box for choosing userpics - I have 250 of them, I DON'T want to LOOK at all of them before picking one.

I seriously hope that this ends like the Facebook fail thing where after EVERYONE complained they went back on it and made it optional. But if it doesn't... well, I don't see myself moving to Dreamwidth anytime soon - yet, even if it's tempting - (tho I have an account there - janie_tangerine still if anyone wants to add), but for anything like comment fic/prompts/five acts posts etc. etc. I'll just link to an entry done over there. I can't be arsed with not distinguishing what is what when it's about comment fic. This isn't the kind of change you get adjusted to - this just totally fucks up with the way LJ can be used for fandom purposes, and tbh the reason I LIKE LJ over ANY other social network was that the comment system wasn't a clusterfuck as in facebook and/or tumblr (the fsm save me from that - I'll never understand how it works). Like, LJ, kudos on fucking with the ONE thing that wasn't broken. Really.

I'll now go trying to finish Christmas cards and my Yuletide fic. Sigh. Seriously, what is this even.

Anyway: dearest hackers who decided to fuck with free speech in Russia, thanks for making me lose sleep I didn't need to lose/turn a thing that'd have taken twenty minutes at most into something that took... about ten hours? By the way, I'm so confused by this thing that I can't even.

The facts: yesterday was my day for posting my spn_j2_bigbang story. And all right. I go to my computer at 10 AM, do my neat notebook files with the A/N and the header and shit, do the PDF and then try posting. I get 500 internal server errors. I try until lunch time. I keep getting server errors. I give up on LJ and try to use Semagic - it posted one of the side-posts, but nothing of the story. And it started giving me server errors too. At five PM I give it up and head out since I had a concert, figuring that five hours would be enough for LJ to fix itself, would they.

Cue to: I get back home at one AM. I keep getting internal server errors. At some point I switch from desktop to netbook and while LJ still didn't work, Semagic apparently did and I managed to post the story and cross-post it to the main comm. I'm done at two-something AM. Then I try to catch up on some comments, and half an hour later I get told that one of the parts doesn't work. I go there - it doesn't load. I go on edit entry - the entire chapter is actually THERE. I try to copy/paste it from the document and see if it works - guess what? Internal server error. I try to break it up in two and use Semagic both for doing a new entry and the two separate entries - nothing except the stupid 500 server error. At that point I try to see if I can edit the masterpost at least - turns out that I can. So I go and post the incriminated chapter on Dreamwidth and edit the links temporarily - and crash into bed at four-something AM. Today, after oversleeping like nothing else, I get back on LJ. Same thing, 500 errors included. I give it up and get lunch. Then I get back to the incriminated post now. IT ACTUALLY LOADS. With the entire content. But I had messed the html for the link to the epilogue and I had forgotten to close a tag, so I figure I can try to fix it since now it works, right?

I get internal server error. *facepalm* I guess I can ignore it a couple hours longer, but I was hoping not to have one fifth of a story on DW when the rest is all on LJ when crossposting. Also because you can't get on the DW link from part III (I can't edit that one either because of 500 errors) but only from the master post.

Really, I don't blame LJ a bit, but I'm about ready to give up on understanding what the hell is up. Though really, never been so happy that I have that back up DW account. *glares at hackers*

Brb trying to fix it again. And at least it isn't as long as last year's because otherwise it'd have meant more parts and I'd still be at stage one.

1. So. Last month my teeth start hurting and I get headaches. I figure it's wisdom teeth and don't go to the dentist's because I had exams. Today I finally managed to go to the dentist's. It was a cavity. Pretty freaking deep. I think he had to yank half of the tooth off though I couldn't swear on that. Note to self: next time, fuck exams and just go. I don't even want to know what he did specifically. Anyway, obviously it means that yesterday I was too out of it to answer comments or anything, so I guess I'll catch up at some point soon. But ouch seriously. At least I don't have a dentist phobia or it'd have been a problem.

3. Books-wise, I started A Dance with Dragons but since I had teeth related headaches I didn't last until page 100 at the first round. I think I'll take it slow or as slow as I can, I don't want to just be DONE and not have any more for the next six years. who am I kidding I also read the last Stephen King one since finally it was out on paperback (confirms my theory that he should do more not-supernatural stuff) and Josh Ritter's first novel (which was lovely but could have been longer). Now I'm also bringing around Year of the Flood because I can't go read ADWD while in line at the post office and it was high time I read that one.

4. TV-wise, I need to catch up with the last two Leverage eps. On the other side, I've been watching Sirens and it's awesome. It makes me ridiculously happy. And Richard Madden is delicious. I'm terribly sad that Brit shows only have six episodes for season though. I don't want it going away in just another two episodes. :(

5. I think it's high time I go through Bon Jovi pics, now that I fixed the problems at point one. Wait for the longest concert review ever or close to that. And now I shall be catching up with comments and edit stuff. And possibly write some of the D/C bigbang fic, if I get around to it.

Then today I was linked this and... well, except for my PM's new declarations about Lybia and public school being full of evil teachers indoctrinating kids, this pretty much covers everything for which he should be made fun of. to be 100% truthful: the first time I watched it I laughed like crazy, then I watched it a second time and I wanted to cry from embarrassment (because if this is what people get of this country from the outside then it's really true that we lost all credibility). (PS: don't mind the Italian subs/title, it was the first I had on hand XD)

Okay, so. Today I was going to get signed this document where you list all your exams and all your credits for a total of 180. Which is what you need in order to graduate. (Or well, you need 175 because the other five are for the dissertation.)

In other news: my throat is utterly sore or at least it feels like it's burning and I have a concert this evening and I'm not exactly feeling like going anywhere but hell, it might be the last time I get to have some free time in the next three weeks. You know when you start the day and you get the feeling it's going to utterly suck? Well, that was today. Or at least, that's what I thought when I got into the post office and the machine giving numbers was broken, and it was just a long, huge line. Anyway, I was supposed to run some errands with my mom and so I called her after I was done working in the library, and I was like, 'do I get to your workplace?' and she, 'well, take the car so we can do this and that', and I was like 'do I really have to?', but then I realized she had a point so I was like fine, let's take the car.

Then before getting out of the house to go, I though that dammit, I really didn't feel like driving or using the car. Next time I'm taking the goddamn bus.

And here we are at it again. Last term I couldn't sign up for my exams because I got into university the last year before a (stupid) reform and they had classified all the exams of the last term so that just people who enrolled with the new reform could see them. And it ended up with me losing hours trying to figure that out and, in three cases, with three different outcomes: a) having a receipt for an exam that says that I gave a class of last year's second term and not this year's first, b) a blank receipt, c) having to go to the professor's office and having them signing me up.

Now, one would think that they'd fix that, right?

4. So, I've been out of town for two days for opera reasons. And since it was Mozart-opera-reasons, it was awesome. Hell, live Mozart is one of my favorite things. <3 Also, while out of town I found myself a beige trench coat. *cough* Which I had been kind of wanting since Casablanca times, and it was on sale. So. Another thing off the list I need to own in this life. Also, I got myself a new Zeppelin shirt, exactly the same as the one I already had, but that last one would have probably gone ripped if I washed it one more time.

5. The new Stone Temple Pilots record leaked. And I'm weak. And I love it. No new N.4, but it's so good. And I'm totally buying it as soon as it arrives here, which I hope isn't in two months. Then again you barely find STP records at all around these parts. Still, STP!! New record!! ♥

6. Expect a long and bitchy politics post in the next two days or so. Americans will probably guess what I'm talking about since even the US had something to say in regards of B.'s next law project which is so 1984 I can't even. If they need a foreign country to tell them that they're doing stuff which is so wrong on any aspect that it isn't even funny... well, I have a my country is hopeless tag for a reason.

7. I signed up for deancasbigbang. Not that I needed another challenge, but I realized that since they have a 10000 words minimum section and that Wings Of Desire AU which I had started for a 25000 words minimum wasn't ever going to reach either that or 20000, probably, I figured that since I had a good chunk of it written I could take the occasion and finish the damn thing. Yaaay me? Especially when I'm still finishing to edit the spn_j2 one. Thankfully it's almost done on that part. And I did progress on both the charity fics I still owe, yaaay for that at least.

And I know that it has been posted a bunch of times already but the more you see it around, the best it is. Also, here is a petition for the story to be printed in what I think is the county's Democratic paper? I'd say consider signing it if you haven't already. Jesus. At least reading the comments on that page makes you partly re-gain the faith in humanity you lost while reading the article, but still, it's insane.
