1) I'm still desktop-less and most likely won't have a new one until Monday if I'm lucky or until the week after if I'm not, and I'm not managing to keep up to date much. I'll hopefully replace it on Monday and I'll catch up at some point. But as I really need to print stuff, it's starting to be bothersome. Also I realized that I had shit that I should have saved on the desktop, but since the problem is that the disk has fried and it won't load properly, I have no idea of how to save it. If I can. :/ Also the netbook has been frying because of the heat so I'm trying to use it just for basic stuff.

2) Two finals down, two to go, and the one I have on Monday is reminding me of all the reasons why I wrote a thesis on Kant and not Hegel. At least the first two went good. The second included a surreal exchange in which I totally recced Oryx and Crake to the English teacher who was supposed to evaluate my capacity to speak in English. Yeah, I don't even know.

3) The average temperature has been... around 35° degrees celsius, but I'm sure it reached 40 at some points in the last week. This weather isn't what you need when you're dealing with Hegel. I mean, it's still June. You don't get this kind of hot until mid-July, usually. Yeah, right.

4) In the midst of this, my parents are happily going to Spain next weekend, and I'll stay here and study for a theology exam I totally would have never signed for if I had any choice.

5) While on breaks from final the first and final the second, I watched Carnivàle. A more thorough review will happen when I have the new computer, but for now I'd just like to ask, who the fuck was the head of HBO between 2003 and 2005? Because seriously, the only shows they ever canceled leaving them with a crap ending were this one, Deadwood and Rome (which I never watched because the idea of Romans speaking in English amuses me greatly, but I'm told it was very good too), and my only comment when it was over was HOW DO YOU EVEN CANCEL SOMETHING THIS BRILLIANT? Seriously, it was all kinds of awesome weird and while my favorite HBO show is still Deadwood, I thought it was amazing. And right up my alley. Bleargh, just two seasons weren't enough.

And on the next final break I'm totes watching Kings, since I ended up reading the Bible because of said theology class and at least now I have the background knowledge.

6) And I shall now go trying to plan my dc_summerlovin fic for good so I can write it tomorrow while I'm on breaks from Hegel. I'll hopefully be more around soon, if the heat doesn't kill me first.

7) Oh, and wait, [livejournal.com profile] ozmissage wrote me THE BEST BRIENNE/JAIME FIC EVER for [livejournal.com profile] got_exchange and YOU SHOULD READ IT, YOU REALLY SHOULD. You have to join the comm, but it's so totally worth it. Seriously. You want to. And it's post ADWD so if you didn't read that ignore this, but if you did read it, YOU REALLY SHOULD.

8) Okay, I'm really done now.

1. Happy late birthday to [livejournal.com profile] onlyechoes and happy early birthday to [livejournal.com profile] primarycolors92 for tomorrow! (sorry for the sucky timing but idk if I'll have time to get online much tomorrow.) I hope that you had/will have an amazing day and that you get spoiled rotten, and that the next year will be all kinds of awesome for the both of you. ♥ if you feel like prompting anything I'll see what I can do

2. In other news: I managed to catch some light form of chickenpox even if I already had it when I was five. Which might be light but it's been such a pain that I almost miss the sunburn. Also since sun exposition had probably something to do with it no sea for the next three days here, which are fortunately also the last. The first can't get here soon enough *sigh*.

3. Also thanks to point two I haven't managed to do anything I was hoping to do IE finish fic and studying for my September exam. If you're one of the three people I still owe that comment fic, it's coming sometime in the next three days. And my next post will probably be a bunch of book recs since I'm about to finish another one. At least I'll manage to read fifty books this year if I keep this rate.

4. Aand there's sadly nothing else. If there's anything I should know fandom-wise that I'd like to know and that has happened lately leave me a comment? Chances are that when I do catch up I'll likely miss half of the things I should. *waves*

1. So, I was supposed to have a final tomorrow, but after much cramming and realizing that out of two critic books I had finished one without understanding it and couldn't finish the second and still didn't understand what I read of it, I decided I'm just giving it in September and who gives a damn. Tomorrow I'll go to hear what they ask and how much time they keep you in so I have an idea of how it works. No sense in trying it half-assed especially when it's worth double the amount of credits of the usual exam and I can't afford a so-so grade. And to be honest, this entire session my head just wasn't there for most of the time except for that one exam I did last week. Which I actually liked, so. :/

2. But, while cramming and getting sucked into the goddamned ASOIF books (aaah I need to read the fourth!), I missed a shitload of birthdays.

So.

Happy late birthday [livejournal.com profile] gemjam, [livejournal.com profile] speak_me_fair, [livejournal.com profile] glassyskies and [livejournal.com profile] gehirnstuerm! :D I hope you all had an amazing day and that your year goes amazingly. If any of you wants to prompt me I'll see what I can do. :)

3. So I ordered shirts online, among other things. One is a Dark Tower one which is just gorgeous, and the other is that infamous some hunters marry their angels one. And I have to share because they're just too lovely.

you just see half of my face at most, don't fear. XD )

4. Since there's been some friending here lately and I've seen it going around, I'm jumping on the self-meme wagon. I'll do that instead of an introduction post. ;)

here! )

5. I guess I'll go beating myself over screwing with my studying plans now. I usually just try for the sake of it but this round I just couldn't. :/ And tomorrow I shall do productive things. Like maybe buying train tickets to Udine, shall I.

Or, this is where I rec you a bunch of stuff I read in the last two weeks. Premise: it's probably all Dean/Cas. I don't even remember if I saved stuff for other pairings. First, random news.

1) Not so good: my first final is eating my soul. I put it first just because it's the one I feel less motivated about and I want it out of my way, but between the industrial revolution and Galileo (who is seriously making me grow respect for anyone studying physics because seriously, so beyond me) and my teacher being apparently the kind who wants to 'make you reason' rather than starting from the books, I'm wanting to weep in frustration. I'm okay with reasoning. It's just that I don't care about half of what I should know and I barely get the other half. Ah well, if I blow it I can always try again in September, right.

2) In very good news: I opened my Dark Tower hardbacks at random after years of not touching them and I found money in both. On one side I'm kicking myself because seriously, forgetting money inside books was something I did when I was twelve and I didn't need money in the first place. On the other side, it means I can now avoid touching my savings account when I get my next batch of expenses, so I'll just be happy. XD

3) In awesome news: my Dark Tower shirt from RedBubble.com (the place where they lovingly craft and tenderly package shirts) arrived and it's amazing. I want to wear it forever. And I want to marry whoever runs that site and shipped it in a week and a half making me pay five euros for the shipping instead of the usual ten with a three week wait.

4) And after saddling you all with my stuff, I'm giving you a bunch of recs! Most is D/C, most is fic. I'll put the first two here and the rest under a cut.

Supernatural, Dean/Castiel

a) The Shape of Flight by [livejournal.com profile] destina;
Maybe there's something better down this road than all the roads before it. ; Dean/Castiel, Sam. PG, 2,142 words, no warnings, set post 6x22

There's a lot I loved about this. It tells a complete story with a relatively short length, it's written in second person POV and it's done extremely well (and I love myself some second person POV), it provides a great take on the 6x22 aftermath and the writing itself is just gorgeous, with everyone being perfectly IC.

b) Two colors by [livejournal.com profile] fossarian;
Dean gives Castiel what he wants, and then he gives a little more.Dean/Castiel, PG13, 2300 words, set after 6x22; no warnings.

Okay, this is hands down one of the best codas to the finale I've read until now. And in the ambiguity department it's probably my favorite. The only way I can define it is creepily sweet - it doesn't make sense probably, but if you read it, it does. The characterizations are spot-on, I love this take on God!Cas, and you'll have to read it three times to realize how complex it is - it's so layered, you miss things on the first read. The imagery is great and I just love everything it chooses to be. It doesn't wrap things neatly in a bow and fix everything, it so doesn't, but I just love how many things about both Dean and Castiel it says.

more Dean/Cas fics and a fanmix )

5) I'm almost done editing my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang story. One week later than stated, but see point one. Now I'll just take the evening off and do the one for the Balthazar exchange, then I'm writing the dc_everafter one between this stupid final and the other and then I'll get started on the Dean/Cas bigbang at some point after July 11th. And I'll try to finish something else in between, one that I should have finished a year ago especially. Oh fic, why can't I just spend my time writing you.

6) Also, I started reading Game of Thrones. I probably won't finish it before finals are over, and I'm also very scared of having done something very stupid since apparently no one is safe and I tend to take it badly (aka: cry for four hours with people asking me who died in RL) if fictional people I like are killed off, but then again I wanted to give it a try. I didn't really get far into it, but the writing itself is really good. I'm looking forward to getting to a point where I actually know who everyone is. Even though I hope I do finish it soon since I had to block GOT related things from my tumblr dash after getting spoiled for one death I hadn't known from Wikipedia. I'll put it back on when I'm done though. Also I'm still not getting a lot of stuff re tumblr, but then again as long as I can save pretty pictures I'm good.

7) Uhm, I think it's all for now. And this post is already too long. Right, I'll see if I can write that exchange fic, hoping I'm not brain dead from cramming.

1. Hiiii. I haven't posted a real update in ages. What news. Though I guess it can be blamed on convention aftermath. Anyway you mught see me commenting randomly late on some stuff of yours in the Easter weekend or so, mostly because I'll have downtime and I'll be at grandparents' with nothing to do except headdesking over university related drama.

2. Regarding that drama, which is about the group project I was talking about last month: that's it, or, shortly: how your classmates make you want to plan homicide. )

3. And being half-down because of point 2 is probably the reason I went and signed up for [livejournal.com profile] dc_everafter even if I had swore I wasn't going to do more than two fic challenges this year. But The Apartment was up for grabs and I couldn't resist. Now I just need to finish my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang which turned out being NOT anything I had thought up at the beginning, but thankfully I should be able to finish somewhere between 20000 and 25000 words so I can totally make it before May 1st. And I'm probably saving the Regency AU for the D/C bigbang since I'd have all summer to write it. Or most of the summer. Planning fic is way funnier than dealing with university, oh yes.

4. In better news, at least Jus in Bello 3 is a go, which means another year of obsessively saving money. But I had so much fun again this year that I don't think I can quit it yet. Though I'm very happy they are waiting for Easter holidays to be done before selling tickets as I might come up with some extra money before the end of the month. *hopes* and there's the SPN wester ep to look forward to! Hoping I can download it at the grandparents'. Mmh.

5. In worse news, local politics are making me want to smite myself. Anytime I hear some people in high positions saying that we should get out of the EU I want to start headdesking, and every time I read reports of what's coming out of my PM's trial I feel like there should be a warning for possible triggering material.

6. Aaand RL news is sadly over. And I sadly don't have anything to lighten up this post further. Next post I'm doing a picspams of Misha close-ups or something like that just to have some pretty to look at. That said uh, hi new friends? If I know you and I friended you back then welcome and sorry for the gloomy post you get, if I don't know you and I didn't friend back, should I? Drop me a line? I don't bite, really.

7. Well, okay, I was linked this last day in the midst of a Very Interesting Discussion and since I want to pretty this entry up, have a random Misha close up. I have no idea of the credit or who took this shot but damn I could stare at his face forever. Right, now I feel way nicer just for having stared at it.

1. First thing, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] wandersfound! :DDD I hope you're having an awesome time on this side of the ocean and that the next year is the most amazing ever ♥ ♥ ♥ and I have stuff for you in the works but look for it either tomorrow or the day after, I sucked at organizing time as usual. ♥

2. Personal news (ooh! .... not really): number one, I took up yoga again (was high time I did it) and damn I needed to do other exercising that isn't walking. Number two, I have a German course starting tomorrow. Be ready for me headdesking for the next months and sending PMs for all you German people in my FL for grammar advice. XD (Okay no I won't stalk you for THAT, really, but the occasional help request might happen.) Still, I need to do it at some point and I can't do another degree without at least reading it.

3. Late thanks are late: Christmas cards! Er. Sorry, really, I never really managed to do a proper post and then I got sidetracked a bunch of times and uh, I hope it's okay if I thank everyone whose card I got at once? (I'm going in the order they're piled up so totally random.) Okay, so, thanks so very much to: cut to spare your fl )

4. I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang AGAIN. Except that I really don't know what I should do for it (last year I did). I'm contemplating doing the regency Dean/Cas AU I had in program for the au_bingo card but that I'm sure would need at least 40000 words and I doubt I can get that and the rest done by February which is the deadline, but idk if I get a better idea I might see. Also ha lol I still haven't started anything for [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang. I'm not that worried because I have a 12000-to-edit apocafic that I haven't gotten around to post which I can still use if I don't manage to decide myself before the deadline, but still, go me really. (PS: anyone who watches SPN and has read The Stand who'd want to do some brainstorming? I wanted to do a crossover but I'm undecided.)

5. Golden Globes thoughts: the only movie that was released here of the ones running was The Social Network, which I haven't seen, therefore I have no serious thoughts. But damn Colin Firth's Italian is excellent. Does he want to have a conversation with me?

6. TV: I'm catching up with Leverage which I'm loving, but as I'm in mid-S2 I'll just do a post for everything when I'm done with S3. Also, I was the latest one to the party to watch BBC!Sherlock, about which I probably have thoughts to share but I don't want to burden this post, so maybe I'll do it along with Leverage. For now I can just say that the law of 'the character Janie likes can never be the main one' strikes again because the one I'm most invested with is Lestrade. Er. Well he's Rupert Graves, dammit, I've been fangirling him since I was sixteen! (and he aged so well. Mm.) Anyway will probably do a serious post later this month. But anyway, if anyone in the fl except for [livejournal.com profile] thandie has some Sherlock/Lestrade recs, uhm, pretty please do want? ;)

7. short blathering re Hereafter and how bad dubbing is and how cinemas suck in this city )

8. re the dark tower movies. DT people, feel free to discuss. XD )

9. Okay, that was probably very long, so I'll go finish other stuff and catch up with comments. ♥

1. Hiii. Uhm, I realized I haven't posted zilch since graduation. Maybe because I've been getting up at ten every morning just because I could and then realized that I hadn't bought any presents or finished the cards for you all lovely flisters, which will hopefully be mailed tomorrow. Considering the weather, it means you'll get them for New Year's, IF you do. In case they're late... sorry, really. I just spent the first two weeks of December completely checking out. XD

That said, I think it might have been graduation but ugh, Christmas is in four days and while I'm usually not that big on Christmas anyway this year I'm just feeling like I didn't even realize it's coming. I mean, I still have three gifts to buy and idek when I'll do it, and anyway circumstances this year are sort of really of the meh kind. possible whining about my family being way too dysfunctional at times. )

2. Also re presents, how the heck do you manage to get out and not buy stuff for yourself instead of presents for other people? I've been out trying to manage to finish presents for the last week and in the end I got about 3/4 of them, but meanwhile I bought myself: a complete change of pencil/pens/writing stuff, a movie, a coffee cup with angel wings to hold it up (seriously. It's amazing. And the wings are pink!) which I absolutely didn't need but it was outrageously cute, new earrings (thankfully they were cheap), new make-up pencils (when I don't even put makeup on nine days on ten) and the dvd of that modern opera based on 1984 (which was half-priced and while modern operas aren't my thing it has a bunch of singers I like, the production looks very shiny and IT'S BASED ON 1984, what). None of which I strictly needed at all, and at least all of these were cheap. Still, I'm not even a shopping whore when it's not about books or cds, the hell happened to me?

3. Politics make me want to cry. I'm half-positive that I'll have to stand B.'s face until the day his time on this planet is over, and the more time passes the more I'm half-sure that it'll be a long while until I don't see it anymore. Also if there are elections next year I'll probably throw up after voting, if in order to send B. away I end up having to vote for a couple of people I'd really rather not vote for. Also if the new university reform gets approved, come March you'll hear a lot of complaining around here..

4. Also hi, this post sounds utterly whiny when it should be anything but. I don't even know, I might have a case of post-graduation blues mixed with the 'wtf it's Christmas and I'm totally not feeling it'. Among the rest I also finished my time at the library, which on one side is good because it means a) more free time and b) I got paid so for once I could go on shopping sprees described in #2, but on the other side it means I'm not getting money from there anymore. Which is very bad, but hell, in the two free months I have I might manage to find someone who wants philosophy repetitions... hey, I like using my own money. (Also I have convention to pay some stuff for still. XD)

5. On the 'let's have some squee' side, I started catching up with Hawaii 5-0. \o/ I'm just at the fifth episode now (tho I had to drop it for time reasons at the second, so..) and ohgod, is that bad that I remember the eps more by all the utterly canon slash text than by what happens in them..? /hides I enjoy it a lot though. It's very fun and it also doesn't require much brain killing, which makes it perfect atm for me. Just something for people who watched Lost though.. mini-spoiler )

6. With this, let's end pointless entry to go finishing the Christmas/New Year's/whatever they'll become cards. Btw, for some of the people who left prompts, your prompt became.. very long, so you'll get printed stuff. Sorry but I couldn't manage to copy everything long hand. xD

7. Ops, last thing. Uuhm, hi new friends? Should I friend you back? Say hi! ;)

1. Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] jaydblu and [livejournal.com profile] zoedriver!! :D I hope you had amazing days and that you get an awesome next year. <333 (Clearly I'm late-ish today as well, ew.) And may it be full of wonderful things and pretty people to ogle at. And if any of you wants to throw a prompt my way I'll see to it, some time in the next idk how many weeks. ;)

2. Uhm, so. This is all over my fl so sorry but I kinda have to jump on the bandwagon. So it's widely known that babies/children under the age of ten aren't exactly my thing unless they're die-hard Springsteen fans hanging on a hotel's window. Still. I can't stop making 'AWWWWWWWWWWWWW' noises at what's under the cut.

no, this is not about Misha Collins. JOKING YES IT IS. )

3. In other news, I've been to the cinema twice in a week. Both films were Italian. Neither was bad. Actually, they were both pretty good. I think that it's a sign that the whole 2012 apocalypse thing might happen after all. (Also along with some stuff I'm thinking about politics. Mostly because if you told me two years ago I'd have had a couple of opinions I'm having lately, I'd have punched you.)

4. Someone please tell me how I'm supposed to guess my graduation mark. Because one of the forms I need to fill requires that information. *grabs for sharp object to commit harakiri with*

5. Next post will probably be the picture meme, since I managed to grab all the missing ones with my cellphone. But it'd be huge so I'm spamming you next time. Also the only thing I'm looking forward in the next three days is the Grinderman concert, even if I'm still in dire need of a boost of confidence re driving there and actually driving back. *sigh* At times I wish I had a driving instructor who actually taught me how to enjoy it instead of being an ass half of the time and a jerk the other half.

6. Ookay, be right back answering comments and seeing if I can accomplish something in the half of an hour I have left before my brain gives up on doing anything. I feel like the only two relevant points in this entry are 1 and 2, but whatever. XD

1. Uh, if LJ notifications don't fail me and if I'm not completely confused over what day it is, then I should say happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] blackonice!! I hope you have an awesome day and an even better year. ♥

2. I need to get through another freaking one hundred pages. AT LEAST, even if if I manage to do more then it's better. Though. Will someone explain me the target of giving me a textbook which was written in 1928 by someone who was born in 1884 and last revised in 1948??!! I seriously can't believe that from THEN there was absolutely no progress whatsoever in Medieval philosophy studies. What the freaking hell is the point if anyway whatever I manage to learn is what I'd have learned freaking SIXTY years ago? I can't just bring myself to give a damn. I kind of have this idea that the scene at the exam will be me saying that the only thing I'm sure about is that Aristotle spent the Middle Ages rolling around in his grave along with Plato (even if the latter less than the former), but I have this idea that it wouldn't gain me a grade. Also, WTF that 'Hebrews and Arabs are akin in race'? Seriously. I'd pay to get Kant back. Sorry, I swear that in a week I'll just stop whining about this crap however it goes but it's just... blah. My history exams this next year will so NOT include the Middle Ages. Hell no.

3. BUT, even if I have that thing to get through, this day's start was AWESOME. Why was it awesome?

cut for the new SPN Space promo for 5x02. Will feature the Youtube embed + me flailing. Obviously, SPOILERS. I'll leave a reasonable amount of space so that no one risks spoiling anyway. If you don't like Castiel, just ignore this because my squee needs to stay squee right now. )

4. I think that my system is getting major caffeine-theine fuck ups. Because if I fall asleep on the textbook after I had THREE coffees and then I need to pour tea on that in order not to sleep for the whole afternoon... I think that after the 24th I'm doing detox. For a while. I can't stay without coffee.

5. Since we're here and I still have five minutes before I go back to all my monks *headdesk* let's do the infamous meme.

For one week, recommend/share:
Day 1: a song
Day 2: a picture
Day 3: a book/ebook/fanfic
-> Day 4: a site
Day 5: a youtube clip
Day 6: a quote
Day 7: whatever tickles your fancy

Well, since I've got no fantasy for sites, I'll give you once again THE CHURCH OF THE FLYING SPAGHETTI MONSTER because everyone with a sense of humor should visit it and admire how much of a genius the Prophet Bobby Henderson is. Also because hey, the day after tomorrow is talk like a Pirate day. ;) Go visit it. You so won't regret it. I love my FSM, I do.

6. Okay, I'll be studying. Then at six I'll be here studying and twittering on Misha's behalf because I have no internet in the room where I actually study. At least it'll be a distraction. Then if this evening I'm not too beat I'll write that fic for the Never Will I meme. Hoping I actually manage to meet my goal for today. *crosses fingers and waves*

1. I had completely forgotten that on August 2nd my parents usually go to the land of singing children because it's my grandmother's name-day. I usually never go because I have friends around during that time but this year I don't and so I'm going too. Which means, leaving on Friday aka tomorrow and getting back on Sunday evening *sigh*. I'm not exactly too hyper about it because while I do love my grandmother I just got back from another three days out and I'm not looking forward to stepping on a train anytime soon (and it'll also set me back with seeing if I manage to go one week out with a friend next month *sigh again*). At least I'll have Internet there so maybe I won't get set back even with fandom. And it'll be even hotter than it's here, which is saying enough since one can barely even breathe. /stops whining

2. At least I think I'm almost done with the exchange fic. Fine, I need at least three more scenes but at least I can see the ending now. If I'm done with it tomorrow it'd be a good thing.

3. Meme tagged by [livejournal.com profile] catoasapun because I need to distract myself. First: If you've been tagged, you must write your answers in your own LJ and replace any question that you dislike with a new question.

Second: Tag eight people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.

here )

I tag whoever wants too. I'm half-sleeping already, I can't think about people to tag.

4. I should do some book recs post since I've read two in those three days out, but at this point I'll just see if I can get my way through another couple when I'm there and do it after August 2nd.

5. Blah, I just feel like generally whining but it's a) not productive and b) too late for that, so I'll just go to bed and answer comments tomorrow and try to get up early. Also because I should start studying the Medieval stuff *headdesk*. *waves*

His Prettiness on Lost. I don't think it's spoilery but cut anyway. Nothing I didn't suspect, but still, I don't like it. And no, doesn't mean he's back anytime soon, but I'd say avoid if you don't want to know anything about the issue anyway. )

And now I'm seeing Pushing Daisies trying to ignore that they canceled it. Otherwise it'll make me feel horrible while it usually is the highlight of my Thursday morning. And then I'll be studying or something. *sigh*
